MY EYE FLOATER EXPERIENCE
A quick trip to my ophthalmologist gave me peace of mind. For the past weeks,
I have noticed globs of floating lines a bit interfering with my vision. Being
panicky when it comes to my state of health, I initially thought that something
was seriously wrong with my eyes. Either that or I am about to go blind.
Always being on the safe side of health, I have an annual consultation with
my doctors. Yes, I have a dermatologist, a general physician, a dentist and
an ophthalmologist. I see them every year and more often, whenever I feel
the need to consult them. Since childhood, I have been wary of sicknesses
and diseases. Do not ask me why but I am just like that.
Anyways, once I have noticed the floating lines and dots on my vision, I immediately
made an appointment with my doctor. Gladly, he helped me clear things out.
Yes, some thing is wrong with me but no, it is not dangerous. He told me that
I have eye floaters. He said that my age (I am in my late forties) and my
diabetes are probably the causes of these floaters. He said that the people
who have had eye injuries or trauma, myopia, eye cataract surgeries or pregnant
women are the more likely to get eye floaters. My condition was not so risky
so he would not recommend surgery or even any kind of treatment. He also explained
that I might even probably disregard them if they do not annoy me too much.
My talk with the doctor somehow relaxed me. At least, I know what I have and
the risks of it. Although, happy again knowing that I am safe, I must still
be on the watch out for other symptoms and signs of its worsening. My ophthalmologist
said I could come back anytime for another consultation if the following occurs:
increase of floaters that actually block my vision, headaches or pain after
the appearance of more floaters, a surge of new floaters, or if I simply have
my signature panic attack and just want an assurance from him.
